In 1977, Prof. Alberto Dal Molin Filho proposed the idea of organizing an internal science fair at Fundação Liberato, being the executive director at that time Prof. Orlando Razzera. A consistent project describing the idea of the fair was submitted for approval to the executive director and the school community. In 1978 the 1st FEICIT (Feira Interna de Ciência e Tecnologia) took place with the participation of 277 projects.

In 1985, FEICIT became a state fair and was renamed MOSTRATEC – Exhibition of Creativity in Science, Art and Technology, promoting the participation of school projects from all the State of Rio Grande do Sul.

In 1993, in order to meet the interest of Brazilian technical schools to show the results of their projects developed in the classroom, MOSTRATEC becomes a national fair.

In 1994, MOSTRATEC receives research works from other countries, becoming one of the main educational events of the country, achieving a higher level and being nominated as  “International Exhibition of Science and Technology”.

From 2009 on, MOSTRATEC ceases to happen in the buildings of Fundação Liberato.  FENAC - Business and Events Center - belonging to the Novo Hamburgo City Hall -RS, now houses the science fair, offering an appropriate and more comfortable structure for the exhibition of the science projects. Companies and universities from the region besides supporting, participate actively increasing the exchange of expertise among students and professionals, national and internationally.

In 2011, MOSTRATEC innovates once again, creating a second category, opening space for research works developed by Elementary School students in the city of Novo Hamburgo-RS.

In 2014, a third category Early Childhood Education - was created in addition to the already existing categories – Elementary School projects, and High School and Technical-Professional Education of Middle Level projects.

In 2019, MOSTRATEC, the 34th edition, counts on a total of 755 research projects, some of them even developed by students at the age of 4.

MOSTRATEC has inspired research and contributed to spread knowledge among many institutions, and the organization of school fairs. It has also contributed for the rise of new researchers and professionals with the capacity to innovate and propose solutions.

Finally, MOSTRATEC has become a reference in promoting technological research and innovation for the national and international community.
