The Robotics showcase is an integrated event to Mostratec and its focus is on the promotion of the “do it yourself” and “hands on” culture with emphasis on educational robotics. The maker culture is a moviment that promotes the use of free technology available on the internet for people to make their own stuff, for them to be responsible for the maintence, repair or even for the invention of something new. Electronic control boards like Arduino and Raspberry Pi allow many people to learn how to program and build even without any previous training in technology, electronics and automation. Building an automatic feeder for pets or a device to open and close the curtains automatically are examples of the application of this technology. Free robotics, an important part of the maker moviment, has an important role at Mostratec because it is a pedagogical tool so that the students apply the knowledge from different areas while they design and make their robots.
